We’re super excited that the circus is nearing, and one of the additional services we’ll be providing everyone with a ticket is access to a Free WiFi network. Below we’ll outline how this will work, what network name you’re looking out for and how to get connected.
Although the WiFi may always appear strong on your device, it is powered by a router which connects to 4G and this 4G itself may be affected by storms or rain. Therefore we can’t rule out temporary interruptions to the internet access. If there’s super limited speed organisers may need priority but an outage isn’t likely unless anyone wanting to cause trouble finds the router and disables it.
How do I get connected?
Unlike in previous years where the WiFi is just like any other network, its going to be a bit different this year. Firstly we can’t tell you the network name ahead of time, as that would spoil the surprise. But some people at Halmsund may have already seen it. Here’s how to connect:
- Open WiFi settings on your device.
- Select the network. If you can’t find it ask for help.
- Once you buy your ticket, you’ll be given a joke with an incomplete answer.
- Tap the WiFi network and click to Connect. Enter the missing part of the joke in the password box and click Join.
- Congratulations! You are now connected.
FAQ’s
- Will the WiFi cover the entire circus area? – Yes, the WiFi will cover the audience area, ticket office, other parts of the garden and part of Halmsund house. It will not cover bedrooms in Vinden (only the “Halmsund Extended” network covers these), but that shouldn’t be a problem.
- Will it be fast? – I’ve recorded top speeds of 40 MBPS right next to the router during set-up, but you’ll likely not get near that due to sharing of network speed and distance from the router. So it may be quite fast, but only if you know where to stand while you speedtest.
- Is this the same network as the one for general Halmsund use? What happens to WiFi after the last act? – This network is purely for audience at the circus and we think it’ll be quite fun. For WiFi before or after the circus, you’ll need to get the password for one of the “Halmsund” networks. We guarantee this is quite a boring password though, so enjoy our exciting WiFi while you can. After the last act, we’ll turn the circus WiFi off as part of tidying away. Therefore you may get a few bonus minutes of WiFi at the end.
- Are there any data limits? – No, this year all the WiFi’s unlimited. So you can download files and use the internet as much as you like, subject to coverage and time restrictions.
